PROPHET Tommy Yisa Aika, the 78 year old General Overseer of the Glory Church of Christ in Benin City, has commenced a 7day Marathon fasting for the Super Eagles to fulfil God’s promise that Nigeria will be the first Africa country to lift the World Cup in Russia 2018.

The cleric said he had to follow God’s directive that he should do the marathon fasting to pave the way for the national team to fulfil God’s promise,

He recalled that he had played similar spiritual roles to back up the Super Eagles successful outings in previous competitions even when the odds were against them performing well.

“On all these occasions I get the promise of the football administrators to compensate me for my efforts but I end up been disappointed.

“April last year, I submitted a petition to the Directorate of State Security(DSS) detailing my experience with the nation’s football administrators but I have not gotten any response.

“Obviously, the security agency operatives have not taken any action on my complaints,” the cleric stated.

Some of the personalities he listed as dumping him after he has their assurance that they’ll compensate him for his spiritual support for the national team’s glorious performances at major tournaments include Hon. Rotimi Amaechi(then Chairman of the Presidential Task Force set up to ensure Nigeria qualified for the 2010 mundial), Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi(then Secretary General of the NFA when Nigeria participated in the 2004 Cup of Nations)and Coach Shuaibu Amodu and Stephen Keshi(both late) when they were in charge of the national team.

He reemphasised that for the Super Eagles to lift the world cup a foreign coach should not be handed the job of tinkering the team, adding that if his warning is not adhered to it will result in calamity.

“On this issue I have God’s backing through Romans 13 verse 1 and 2, Amos 3 verse 7 and also Luke 1 verse 37.”
