BENIN CITY- Edo Civil Society Organization,(EDOCSO), has urged the federal government to order Electricity Distribution Companies(DISCOs) to stop issuing bills to unmetered consumers.

The Coordinator-General, EDOCSO, Comrade Omobude Agho, gave the urge yesterday in Benin city, in the acceptance speech delivered on behalf of newly swore-in Executives of the organization.

Comrade Omobude Agho who was swore-in as EDOCSO Coordinator-General for the second time, lamented Federal government’s refusal to withdraw the licences of the current players in Nigeria’s power sector, adding, “majority of them lacks the prerequisites to manage any segment of the sector”.

The EDOCSO Coordinator-General noted that, the organization in the last three years has thrive to increase awareness and knowledge in civic engagements, built capacities of citizens, stood for truth and justice for the society as well as pursue fairness in order to attain peace.

Meanwhile, the ceremony which marks the take-off of the third executive council of network of civil society groups in Edo state, saw the swearing in of newly elected excos that will pilot the affairs of the organization for the next three years.

High point of the event was oath taking and presentation of certificate of return to the newly elected officials of the group.
