BENIN CITY: Edo State Governor Mr. Godwin Obaseki has pledge his administration readiness in collaboration with ready investors to establish an oil palm Estate in Ovia North East Local Government Area of the state.

He made the pledge while embarking on a thank you tour to all the 18 local government area of the state commencing the tour with Ovia North East Local Government Area yesterday.

Obaseki said in the last two months he has embarked on Asia tour to woo investors to the state. He added that the tour has yielded positive result as some of these investors has agreed to come to the state to commence a large scale oil plantation starting from Ovia.

“In the last two months we have approached them to come to Edo State to do a large scale oil plantation starting from Ovia. The Job we promised the people will be generated through this means. The job will be created from agriculture focusing on mechanized way of farming and creating a ready market and buyer for the products”.

He said next month his administration will be lunching an industrial park at Ologbo while that of Ovia will follow later. “We are working with the world bank to provide portable drinking water for 50 communities in Ovia North East”.
Obaseki who was elated thanked and appreciated party members in the 13 ward that made Ovia North East Local Government for making him the governor of Edo State through their over whelming support for him before, during and after the election.

He said his administration has embarked on road construction as she emphases on the link roads in communities across the state to enable farmers have access rough to transport their agricultural product to the market.

The APC State Chairman Anslem Ojezua appreciated the governor for keeping to his electioneering promises to the people of the area. “Before the primary, the governor said he will work with the party and respect party leadership. He has kept to his promises by appointing political appointees ensuring that the supremacy of the party is respected.
He said the state government will commence digital registration from next month assuring that officials that will handle the exercise will be party members from various ward in the state. “Edo state government will commence digital registration and officials will be selected from ward level and will be trained by consultant hired by the state government”

The Chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC) Chairman Ovia North East Local Government Area Mr. Benson Edosowman welcomes the governor and his entourage for the thank you visit to the council area thanking the governor on the appointment of Ovia North East indigenes to Edo State Executive Council.

He expressed delight in the appointment of three Senior Special Assistant (SSAs) to the governor and thirteen Special Assitant (SA) to the governor saying it is a step in the right direction in addressing the long agitation for equitable distribution of political appointments in the state.

“The agricultural initiative of the governor has being brought to bear in the Local Government with the Public-Private Partnership of Saro farm in Iguobo in Okada East Ward. The Gelegele sea port projects in Oduna Ward being developed as it will no doubt explore the agricultural potentials of Ovia North East and boast export of finished product if fully implemented or actualised”.

The high point of the event was a cash reward given to ward with the highest numbers of votes during the governorship election and Oluku came out top and got one million naira while Utoka got a promise of road construction and a cash gift of five hundred thousand naira with the highest percentage of votes.
