BENIN CITY- Edo State Governor Mr. Godwin Obaseki has disclosed that plans are under way to ensure accreditation of programmes at Edo College of Education, Igueben before the end of November 2017.
He made the disclosure at Igueben the administrative headquarters of the council during his thank you tour of some Local government area in Edo Central senatorial district.

Obaseki said he would not have been governor today but for the commitment, determination, courage of members of the party who made it possible as such will work with the party to transform the state. He added that it will be difficult to achieve this if the party members fail to cooperate as their cooperation is the needed ingredient to make the State great.

“I rely on vital information from you to help govern the state. We have to meet regularly for you to hear from us what we are doing as a government while we listen to you to solve the challenges confronting you”.
“My administration will support the Edo College of Education here in Igueben to ensure it accredits all its programmes and also help in the execution of projects in the Institution to reposition the school and ensure a smooth take off of the Institution to make it one of the best”.

Governor Obaseki also pledged to set up a vocational centre to impart youth with skills needed to be employable. “We have promised to create job for our youths and to prepare them for the job our government will provide. We will set up skill acquisition centre here in Igueben to train and provide them with the necessary skills they needed for the job”.

He revealed that his administration has awarded contract for construction of Igu -Amahor road and just waiting for dry season for contractor to move to site. He noted that other roads that needed attention in the locality will certainly get the attention of his administration.

Earlier, APC chairman in Igueben, Mr. Sunday Iredia commended his achievements since assuming office, improvement in internally generated revenue and prudent management of state funds. He appeals to the governor to address the deplorable state of some roads in the council area.

At Ubiaja in Esan South East, the Governor promised an agricultural processing zone at Ilushin in addition to a vocational centre that will provide the necessary skill for the youths of the area, preparing them for the job his administration will provide for them.

He equally assures them that in terms of roads, the council area will not be forgotten. “I have stationed a contractor in Edo Central Senatorial District to ensure that a number of roads are constructed, we are only waiting for dry season to commence work”.

The APC chairman in Esan South East Mr. Chris Aghughu earlier appreciated governor Obaseki for making history by appointing the first female commissioner from the area and recent donations to ITF trainees. He urged the governor to reactivate Edo Broadcasting relay Station at Ivue Uromi so they could follow husband programmes on Television.
When governor Obaseki’s thank you tour arrive Uromi in Esan North East, Local Government Council in the state, he called on the party faithful to join hands with him to change the face of politics by making the people believe in APC politicians who not only promise but fulfil their promises. He assured the people that his administration will respect the supremacy of the party and work with it to transformed the state and make life better for the people of the state.
The governor continued in his tradition of rewarding wards that performed best in terms of votes during the governorship election that brought him to power. At Igueben, the former speaker Justine Okonobo’s ward, ward 10 had the highest number of vote cast and got five hundred thousand naira. Ward 10 had same amount for the highest per centage of vote cast while the rest eight wards got one hundred thousand naira each for their effort.
At Ubiaja, ward one got the reward of five hundred thousand naira for the highest vote cast while for the highest per centage of vote cast went to ward four for same amount while eight other wards got one hundred thousand naira each for their effort.

Ward seven got the reward at Uromi for the highest number of votes while that of the highest per centage went to ward one while the other eight other wards got one hundred thousand naira each.
At Igueben, Ubiaja and Uromi the governor received numbers of decampees from across other political parties in the state to the APC fold. Notable among them are Dickson Idemudia and his supporters at Igueben and Alhaji Musa Isiwele at Uromi. Obaseki urge the decampees to work hard for the party and ensure that all those they left behinde in their former parties are won to the APC to ensure future election will be easily won by the APC for the development to continue both at state and federal level.

Responding for the decampees Alhaji Musa Isiwele who is the National President of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, RTEAN said he and his followers decided to join the APC because of the great work Obaseki is doing in the state saying the party is a party for development.

Isiwele said his coming to the party is to contribute to the development of the party and ensure an improved life for the people of Edo state. He donated two motor cycles to the party to enhance and promote party activities in the area.
