BENIN CITY- The Edo State Acting-Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mrs. Grace Eseka, has charged Civil society organizations, Political class, and the media, to build peace for coexistence.

Mrs Eseka gave the charge recently in her welcome address, during the Nationwide Security Awareness Sensitization campaign, organised by NOA, in Benin city.

According to her, “The political class, civil society organizations and the media in particular, impact more on the general public by their actions or inactions and therefore more is expected of them in building people for peace, good neighborliness and security”

The Acting State Director, NOA, who commended the federal and Edo state governments for checking insecurity, frowned at hate speeches and rumor-mongering peddled on social media, which she described as a “worrisome development”.

Also speaking, Edo state Commissioner of Police, Johnson Kokumo, called on citizens to be vigilante at all times and be wary of their environment, to check insecurity.

The Edo COMPOL who was the guest speaker at the occasion was represented by Superintendent of Police(SP) Anthony Nnachor noted that, criminals are not magicians, hence they work with information.
According to CP Kokumo, “be vigilante at all times, you have to be suspicious of everybody around you, because you do not trust everybody. Never give out confidential information carelessly, the type of information that concerns you as a person”.

Also in his remarks, Resident Electoral Commissioner(REC) for Edo State, INEC, Mr. Obo Effanga, enjoined citizens to embrace peace, noting, without peace there can be no development.

The Edo REC who was the chairman of the occasion and represented by Head of Department Voter Education and Publicity. Mr. Francis Ikpefua, added, “where you have insecurity, movement is restricted.
