BENIN CITY- Edo state commissioner for women affairs and social development, Hon Magdalene Ohenhen, has stated that, there is no government across the world that can provide the needed job for every of it citizen.

The commissioner, stated this on Tuesday, while speaking with journalists at the Accelerate Labs Demo Day, held in Benin city.

According to Hon Ohenhen, “I am excited about this training, because it is now very clear that government cannot provided the needed jobs that Nigerian youths need, and I am aware that there is no government in any part of the world that can provide jobs for everybody”.

The Edo Commissioner, represented by Mr Victor Okenini Esq, commended the trainees for demonstrating creativity and innovation in the event, which heralded a 6-Weeks Edo-Jobs training for 600 persons on “Employer-bility and Entrepreneurship”.

On Her part, The Coordinator, Edo Jobs 2017 Summit, Mrs Ukinebo Dare, said, the program is design to create job opportunities for unemployed youths in Edo state, and also part of activities to celebrate Governor Godwin Obaseki One year in office.

Mrs Dare added, Accelerate Labs are engaging in programs that supports entrepreneurs, hence the need for Edo Jobs to partner them for the overall benefit of youths in the state.

She however noted, there are over 180,000 persons on Edo Jobs portal and that, it is a training program designed to accommodate the different categories of applicants, which according to her will be a continuous process.

Also speaking, a major partner in the Accelerate Labs and Chief Executive Officer(CEO), SabiHUB Nigeria, Engr. Nkechi Nkwuone, said, they decided to partner the state government to undertook the 6-weeks training for job seekers in Edo Jobs database, to help them create jobs instead of searching for one.

“What we do for them is to identify their idea, attach them to mentors, get facilitators that teaches them on business skills, understanding financing, understanding how to build yourself on becoming an entrepreneur, Engr. Nkwuone Said.

Highpoint of the Accelerate Labs Demo Day was the presentation of awards and cash prizes to trainees who came out 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively, in the demonstration of their entrepreneurial ideas at the event.

Meanwhile, the winners are expected to meet with the state governor, Godwin Obaseki on Wednesday in Government House, Benin city.
