Our mother Mary was the happiest woman on earth. The moment Elizabeth affirms the message of the Archangel Gabriel that she is Blessed among women, she started singing her joyful song, “My soul magnifies the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour…”

As you live, my lord, I am the woman who was standing here in your presence, praying to the Lord. Christology: JESUS, the Name Giver
Naming ceremony is a special celebration after the birth of a child where the name of the new born child is officially declared to the hearing of those present in a solemn and special way. Children of God derive their names through the Most High God. The Lord God declares through the prophet Isaiah, “I have called you by name, you are mine” (Isaiah 43:2). Our names comes from the Most High God.

The gospel of Luke 1:57-66 presents the naming ceremony of John the Baptist. During his naming ceremony, his mother, Elizabeth insisted that his name must be John and not Zechariah. Those present were all surprised and said to her, “None of your relatives has this name.” Then they motioned to his father to find out what name he wanted to give him. He asked for a writing tablet and wrote, “His name is John.” And all of them were amazed. Immediately his mouth opened and his tongue freed, and he began to speak, praising God.” This confirms the divine origin of John’s name.
Child of God, the Lord shall bless you with a new name. Zachariah declares in his Benedictus, “And you little child, you shall be called the prophet of the Most High” (Luke 1:76). As the prophet of the Most High, your life will surely bring glory to God and it shall be well with you in Jesus name – Amen!

Inspirational Message: Name is the essence of human identity. Without name we cannot easily identify one person from another. With your name, your identity is secured.

PRAYER FOR A NEW NAME: Heavenly Father, in Isaiah chapter 43:2, you said that you have given me a new name. In the gospel of Luke 1:57-66, you blessed the Son of Zechariah with a new name – John! Lord, in your mercy deliver me from every evil name. Deliver me from any name that is under a curse. Deliver my family and even my village from any accursed name. Bless me with a new name, a new title and a new identity, through Christ our Lord – Amen!

PROPHETIC MESSAGE: GOD WILL RAISE ANOTHER ELIJAH FOR YOU
The Lord God declares through the Prophet Malachi 3:1-4; 4:5-6, “Behold, 1 will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes. And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the land with a curse.” Elijah is coming for reconciliation. He will reconcile the parents with their children. Child of God, I release the spirit of Elijah in your family. in that family where there is no peace – let there be peace! And let the blessings of the Most High God be upon you in Jesus Mighty name I pray – Amen!

The gospel of St. John 1:1-18 presents our Lord Jesus Christ as the Word-made-flesh: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being.” Jesus Christ is indeed the Word through whom all things were created. He is also the Word that took flesh today in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary. To him be glory and praise forever and ever – Amen!

Reflecting on good news the author of the book of Isaiah 52:7-10 declares, “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good tidings, who publishes peace, who brings good tidings of good, who publishes salvation.” The birth of our Lord Jesus Christ is the best News the world has ever heard. The prophet Isaiah declares, “Break forth together into singing, you waste places of Jerusalem; for the Lord has comforted his people, he has redeemed Jerusalem.” Child of God, one of the reasons why you must sing and dance is because the Lord has come to comfort you! You must sing and dance because the Lord has redeemed you. The psalmist declares, “O sing a new song to the Lord,
for he has worked wonders. His right hand and his holy arm have brought salvation.” Honestly, this is the best News of the year! Indeed, the Lord has worked wonders. The birth of God is the most wonderful thing that has ever happened in our world. Child of God, the Lord will continue to work wonders in your life and in your family! CELEBRATION OF CHRIST: JESUS, THE GLORY OF MARTYRS
Our Lord Jesus Christ is the glory of the martyrs. He taught his disciples the importance of martyrdom. He said in the gospel of John, “Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13). This is the highest expression of love – a self-giving love!

Today we are celebrating the feast of Stephen, the first martyr in the Bible. According to Acts of the Apostles 6:8-10 “…As Stephen was preaching with power they were infuriated. They threw him out of the city and stoned him to death. As they were stoning Stephen, he called out “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” Physically, Stephen is dead but spiritually he is alive. That is why we are celebrating him every year. Child of God, you will be celebrated!

In the gospel of Matthew 10:17-22, our Jesus prepared his disciples for martyrdom. He said to them, “Beware of men, for they will hand you over to courts and scourge you in their synagogues… You will be hated by all because of my name, but whoever endures to the end will be saved.”
He also assured us, his followers, “Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven” (Matthew 5:11-12). Child of God, if you remain steadfast, especially in the midst of persecution you will be rewarded greatly in heaven. And it shall be well with you in Jesus name – Amen!

Inspirational Message: Since love is reciprocal we must be ready to die for the One who died for us.

Prayer for the Spirit of Martyrdom: Heavenly Father, your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, was persecuted and even crucified on the Cross for the salvation of the world. He taught us, his followers the importance of martyrdom. Lord, we need your grace to be steadfast, especially in the midst of trial and persecutions. And may we be ever ready to lay down our lives for the gospel and for the wellbeing of others, through Christ our Lord – Amen!

PROPHETIC MESSAGE: HEAVEN SHALL OPEN FOR YOU
In Acts 6:8-10;7:54-59 before Stephen was stoned to death he exclaimed, “Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing at the right hand of God.” Child of God, your spiritual eyes is about to open! Right now the window of heaven is opening for you. Every spiritual blindness is hereby canceled; in Jesus name! Now begin to see! See the glory of God! Begin to see the Son of Man as He is seated at the right hand of God! From today, your spiritual eyes are declared opened in the name of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit – Amen!

CELEBRATION OF CHRIST: THE RISEN LORD AND THE BELOVED DISCIPLE
Today is the feast of the John the Apostle. He was an Evangelist. He was the author of the fourth gospel – ‘the gospel of John.’ He was also the author of 1st 2nd and 3rd John. He is popularly known as the Beloved Disciple.

In the gospel of John 20:2-8 Mary Magdalene told the disciples that the body of Jesus was no where to be found. Peter and the disciples ran to the tomb. According to the passage, “They both ran, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first; and stooping to look in, he saw the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in.” John was the disciple that saw the empty tomb before the rest of the apostles.

This disciple who saw the empty tomb and bore witness to what he saw is the same disciple we are celebrating today. He was the most favoured disciple. The scripture describes him as the “Beloved Disciples.” Among all the disciples he was the one Jesus loved most. Through the intercession of St. John the Baptist may God raise more beloved disciples in the Church, in our families and in our nations, through Christ our Lord – Amen!

Inspirational Message: A beloved disciple is one who promotes and defends the interest of his master. John the Evangelist was indeed a Beloved Disciple!

PRAYER FOR AUTHENTIC DISCIPLESHIP: Lord Jesus Christ, you said, the harvest is plenty but the labourers are few. You then mandated us to pray for more labourers into your vineyard. Lord, today we have so many labourers but few authentic labourers. Lord we pray for more authentic labourers. We pray for those who will feed your sheep and not those who will be feeding on your sheep. We pray for those who are ready to lay down their lives for the sheep and not those who will lay down the lives of the sheep for their own selfish interest. Above all, Lord Jesus Christ we need disciples and labourers after your own very heart – those with meek and humble of heart. As you do this, may your name be glorified forever and ever – Amen!

PROPHETIC MESSAGE: REJOICE IN THE LORD: Child of God, it is your turn to rejoice! You will never be sorrowful again. In Psalm 97:12 the Psalmist declares, “Rejoice in the Lord, you just. Give thanks to his holy name.” Child of God, as long as you are just and you are living a righteous life, you have every reason to rejoice. The best place to rejoice is in the Lord. If you are connected to the Lord start rejoicing. Start celebrating! Start dancing for joy. Indeed, goodness and mercy shall follow you all the days of your life; you shall rejoice in the presence of the Lord forever and ever – Amen!

Christology: JESUS, THE FATHER OF INNOCENT CHILDREN
So many innocent children lost their lives to wicked leaders In Exodus 1:16 Moses narrowly escaped death. God used his mother and Pharaoh’s daughter to save his life. A similar thing happened when our Lord Jesus Christ was born. The gospel of Matthew 2:13-18 narrates how the parents of Jesus escaped to Egypt when King Herod wanted to kill him.

When Herod realized that he had been deceived by the magi, he became furious. He ordered the massacre of all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had ascertained from the magi. Herod could only kill the physical bodies of the children their innocent souls are still alive. That is why we celebrate them every 28th day of December. Their death and that of our Lord Jesus Christ brought liberation to other children.
Today is a special day to remember the orphans, vulnerable and innocent children who are being murdered under cold blood. In a very special way we remember children who are killed on a daily basis through abortion and infanticide. We equally, remember motherless babies, children without mother. may God, the Father of the fatherless continue to provide parental care and love for such children, through Jesus Christ our Lord – Amen!
Prayer for Orphans and Vulnerable Children: Lord Jesus Christ innocent children were sacrificed at your birth. Yet, Herod could not destroy you. Today in our world so many parents have lost their lives in war, riot, terrorism and insurgencies. Some parents have lost their lives through accidents, robbery attacks and even in the cruel hands of kidnappers. Most innocent children are abandoned without parents, without hope and without home. Lord Jesus, you are the only one that can take care of these children. You loved children so much that you said, leave the children to come to me for to them belongs the kingdom. Lord, I entrust into your merciful and caring hand all the orphans and vulnerable children in our society today. May you raise those who will cater for these children! Touch the heart of our leaders to remember these children. Grant this through Christ our Lord – Amen!
Inspirational Message: The protection of innocent and vulnerable children is the only way to secure the future generation.

PROPHETIC MESSAGE: YOU ARE NO LONGER UNDER CAGE
Child of God, your period of bondage is over! The psalmist declares in Psalm 124:7 that “Our life, like a bird, has escaped from the snare of the fowler. Indeed, the snare has been broken, and we have escaped.” Child of God, that evil cage that has been holding you bound has been broken. The chain of slavery is broken. The chain of poverty is broken! The yoke of barrenness is broken! The yoke of recession is broken! Even the yoke of failure and disappointments are hereby broken in Jesus name! You are hereby declared free in the name of God the father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit – Amen!
