Following the shooting of a labourer and the injuring of another by some persons in Uweghe Community, a Benin Chief has called on the operatives of Edo State Police Command to fast track investigation with a view to bringing the perpetrators to justice.

Chief Osamuyiwa Amadasun who hired the wounded labourers accused the village Chief Priest (Ohen) Chief Joseph Imagbenikaro Amadasun of masterminding the attack after he had earlier threatened to deal with him over inherited land (Igiogbe) in Uweghe village.

Chief Osamuyiwa Amadasun narrated that on December 23, 2017 hired the services of some labourers to clear round his new building in the village as in the process the Chief Priest invaded his compound with thugs.

He stated further that the presence of mobile policemen attached to him prevented the hired thugs from unleashing mayhem on him and his workers.

Chief Amadasun however alleged that as his labourers were the village the Chief Priest ordered his thugs to attack them as one the labourers Yusuf Buhari was shot in the chest and another wounded in the eye.

He appealed to the Edo State government, the police and relevant agencies to look into the issue describing the attack as too close to be swept under the carpet.

Commenting on the attack the Public Relations Officer for Edo Police Command DSP Nwanbuzor Chidi said the man who shot and some others suspected to have participated in the attack have been arrested.

DSP Nwanbuzor also stated that the gun has been recovered as the state police commissioner CP Johnson Kokumo had interviewed both parties.

He added that those found culpable would soon be arraigned in court.

Efforts to obtain the version of Chief Joseph Imagbenikaro Amadasun were unsuccessful as neither calls nor massage to his phone number were responded to at the time of filling this report yesterday.
