ABUJA- The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is to receive 6.8 million dollars for the Save One Million Lives Programme for Result (SOMLPforR) 2018.
The National Programme Manager, SOMLPforR Dr Ibrahim Kana, made this known during a visit to the Secretary, Health and Human Services Secretariat, Amanda Pam on Wednesday in Abuja.

SOMLPforR is an international Non-Governmental Organisation with the initiative to increase the utilization and quality of high impact reproductive, child health, and nutrition interventions.
According to him, the results of performance evaluation of SOMLPforR for 2016/2017 placed FCT as the North Central champion amongst the 12 states of the Federation that qualified to earn more funds from the programme.
“This performance shows the capacity of FCT SOMLPforR team to achieve set goals, despite this outing, there is still room for improvement to achieve more in the programme for Results.

“The ongoing National Nutritional Health survey 2017 has been improved significantly to address issues of communication gaps identified in the previous surveys.
“The 2018 National Family survey will also commence soon and all these surveys are opportunities for earning more points, if states and FCT can take advantage of the windows of opportunities available,’’ he said.

Kana also promised to pay advocacy visit to the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Bello and the Permanent Secretary FCTA, Christian Ohaa to create more awareness and for the smooth implementations of the FCT SOMLPforR work plans.
Kana accompanied by the North Central and North East Coordinator, Dr Okara Dogara presented the score card of 2017 to the secretary.

Responding the Secretary, Health and Human Services Secretariat, Amanda Pam assured the National Programme Manager of unflinching support of the FCT Administration toward achieving the set objectives of SOMLPforR in the FCT.
Pam restated the commitment of the administration toward providing efficient and quality health care services to its residents.
She also commended the FCT SOMLPforR team for their hard work and commitment toward getting the set goals.
