BENIN CITY – The Oba of Benin has charged the management of Okomu Oil Palm Plc on the need to improve on their corporate social responsibility in their host community.
His Royal Majesty, Ewuare II, Oba of Benin gave the charge when the Chairman of Board of Okomu Oil Palm Plc, Mr. Gbenga Oyebode led other Directors of the company on a courtesy visit to the Oba of Benin in his Palace.
The Benin Monarch said apart from providing jobs for the people, the company should do more in impacting on the development of the communities around them, and also drew the attention of the management of Okomu Oil Plc to the problems posed by the Libya returnees and called on them to assist in the rehabilitation and engagement of the victims of human trafficking in the state.

The Oba of Benin stressed the need for Okomu Oil to assist Ewuare II Foundation in the task of providing skills and empowerment of youths in the state, pointing out that the Palace would appreciate if Okomu Oil should help curb rural-urban migration by providing the enabling environment for small scale enterprises to thrive in their host communities.
While congratulating the management of Okomu Oil Plc for the successful inauguration of the second phase of their oil palm plantation, His Royal Majesty, reminded them of the need to make their products available for people to testify to the goodness of it, to attract more patronage.
The Omo N’Oba assured them of a better and cordial relationship between the Palace and the company.

Earlier, the Chairman of Board of Directors of Okomu Oil Palm Plc, Mr. Gbenga Oyebode said they were in the Palace to inform the Oba of Benin about the inauguration of the second phase of their oil palm plantation, and expressed the company’s commitment to expanding their business in the state.
Mr. Oyebode commended the Omo N’Oba for the support and promised that the company will improve on its corporate social responsibility, support Ewuare II Foundation and move its annual general meeting to Benin to boost trade and commerce.

On his part, the Group Chairman, Hubert Fabri said the progress recorded by the company is a sign of hardwork of their team, which he noted would open up new endeavour of growth, development and commitment.
His Royal Majesty, Ewuare II also received HRH Adedapo Aderemi who was in the Palace with a message from the National secretariat of the National Council of Traditional Rulers.
HRH Aderemi briefed the Oba of Benin about the existence of the body, pointing out that there is need for Omo N’Oba to know what is happening at the secretariat.
He informed the Oba of Benin about the upcoming African Traditional rulers Conference in the United Nations in New York in July this year to honour late Dr. Nelson Mandela and that a formal invitation would be extended to the Benin Monarch.

Highpoint of the visit was the presentation of Certificate of Membership of the National Council of Traditional Rulers to His Royal Majesty, Ewuare II.
The Omo N’Oba expressed satisfaction with the message from the National Secretariat of the National Council of Traditional Rulers as well as the Ooni of Ife and assured of his support and cooperation, especially in the unification of Nigeria and the promotion of the rich cultural heritage of our people to the international community.
The Oba of Benin also received Miss Osaretin Arase, who came to the Palace for Royal blessing for her to succeed in her mission to establish Miracle Amadi Help Foundation for the less privilege in the society.
