BENIN CITY – The Nigerian Air Force Officers Wives Association (NAFOWA) on Wednesday donated hospital equipment worth millions of Naira to the Central Hospital, Benin to commemorate the Nigerian Air Force’s 54th anniversary.
Presenting the items to the management of the hospital, Hajiya Hafsat Abubakar, the association’s National President, said the union was an NGO dedicated to providing humanitarian services.
Abubakar said that the association had visited two orphanages in Makurdi, the Benue capital, in 2017 and donated foodstuff worth millions of Naira.
“The choice of the Central Hospital, Benin, for our 2018 visit is because the hospital is a major service provider to residents.

“We have come to the hospital to show love and support. Our hope is that this visit will impact positively on the hospital community as well as the end users,’’ she said.
The NAFOWA president said that the items donated were determined by the need of the hospital as conveyed to the association.
Receiving the items, Dr Philip Ugbodaga, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, said that the hospital was more than 100 years old.
Ugbodaga said that the hospital took the health of children and women very important and did not tolerate child and maternal mortality.
He said the equipment donated would help to advance care for women and children, and assured that the equipment would be judiciously utilised.
