WARRI – Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL said through investments in gathering and processing of associated gas, gas flaring has been reduced by over 90% in the last 10 years.

The General Manager, Policy, Government and Public Affairs (PGPA), Mr. Esimaje Brikinn made the disclosure at the Pan Atlantic University (PAU) Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State at the on going Chevron’s Sponsored Advanced Writing and Reporting Skills, AWAReS 18.

“Besides oil exploration, CNL is the highest contributor to high quality domestic gas in Nigeria since 2015, CNL supplies 41% of Nigeria’s domestic gas and is committed to continuiing to retain this position.”

“Through investments in gathering and processing of associated gas, routine gas flaring has been reduced by over 90% from 2008 to 2017 in CNL’S operations.”

Represented by Mr. Sola Adebawo, Manager, Communications, CNL, Brikinn said through the CNL’S pioneerd Global Memorandum of Understanding (GMoU) , which is a community led participatory partnership model from community engagement and sustainable development ,CNL has contributed over N20.6 billion to Regional Development Committees ( RDCs ) that represent the communities in the areas of their operations to execute hundreds of projects in the communities tChehrough a governance model that ensures transparency and accountability.

According to him, the projects cover the areas of education, health delivery, housing and scholarships, economic development which have benefitted over 600,000 people and assisted in enhancing the quality of life in these communities and areas of their operations.

Brikinn said, in line with CNL’s vision to be the global energy company most admired for its people’s patnership and performance as well as CNL’S strong belief in value derived from developing human capital ,

” In the last five years, CNL has been sponsoring the AWAReS programmes aimed at improving professional capacity and building lasting patnership with our media stakeholders.”

“With this year’s edition, we would have recorded 100 participants in the programme. The feedback received from previous years have been very encouraging. We hope for even greater results from this year’s programme, and we are certain that PAU with its impeccable teaching curriculum, record and environment will help us achieve this goal.”

He told the participants to expect to be drilled, and challenged as according to him, it will be well worth it in the end.

Other members of the CNL’s team included Mrs.Yinka Sokoya, Content Development Manager, CNL; Eng.Joseph Olayemi; Mr. Michael kabi who also made various presentations about CNL’S operations.
