LAGOS – The National Emergency Management Agency on Friday said the country is likely to experience a possible flood disaster in some states of the federation.

In a statement by the agency and made available to our correspondent in Lagos, the Director General of the agency, Mustpha Maihaja made this know at a press briefing in Abuja while expressing fears of the volume of water.

The Director Engineering Hydology, Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency Mr. Clement Nze listed states to be affected to include, Kwara, Kogi, Niger, Edo, Anambra, Rivers, Bayelsa, Kebbi, Benue, Adamawa Taraba and Delta State.

He called on the urgent need to strengthen awareness and enlightment on the dangers ahead as more intense rainfall and thunderstorm are likely to linger.

At present he expressed worry at the volume of water level which he said tally with indicators in the 2012 flooding.
