ASABA – The U S Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Stuart Symington has said that Nigeria is the economic hub of Africa, and charged President Mohammadu Buhari to engaged the youths across the Country through Agric Business for a profit products to change their lives and make the country great.

Symington who met the management of Afritropic Farm and 48 ex- Niger Delta Militants under going presidential Amnestry programmes training at Utagba Uno, Delta State expressed delight over the progress of the agricultural training programme in partnership with some American investors.

While commending Federal Government for providing a conducive environment for the training, he said US government is ready to assist in any way it could in agricultural business to boost the economy of Nigeria.

According to him, Americans concern today is for Nigeria to engage mechanized farming with not only the youths in this region but others to move further and better.

The state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa said the youths are being engaged in mechanized farming to desuade them from taking arms, saying without arresting youths restiveness no peace in the country.
According to the governor, who spoke through his Commissioner for Economic Planning, Kingsley Emu “we are giving hope to our youths because, we know that the more youths we take out of the streets, the more peace we will have and the more investment and development that can take place in the country.”

The spokesman for the trainees, Mr. Augustine Dasembo applauded the governments for the training, but called for extension of time as, according to him six weeks is not enough to acquire the needed result.

He also appealed to the Niger Delta leaders to urgently wake up from their slumbers to develop the region with jobs creation.

On her part, the Executive Director, Afritropic Farming and Agro Services Ltd., Miss Eniyekpemi Ebimobore said Afritropic Farm is putting the ideals of an American and Nigeria farmer into farm mechanization, livestock, crop, training, Irrigation and others to meet local and international needs.
