AAU RE-OPENING: MGT REQUESTS PARENTS, STUDENTS TO IGNORE CONTRARY INFORMATION

EKPOMA – The management of the Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma-Edo State has requested the public, especially parents and students of the institution to discountenance any information contradicting the directive of the university’s Senate to re-open the school for academic activities.

The chairman of ASUU, AAU chapter had in a statement warned students of the institution to stay away from campus of the institution, saying AAU-ASUU was yet to pull out from the national strike.

In a statement signed by the spokesperson of the institution, Edward Aihevba, the university management re-emphasize it’s earlier announcement re-opening the university for academic activities.

“The management of Ambrose Alli University hereby reiterates and reemphasises the directive of the university Senate on the reopening of the university and resumption of academic activities.

“The general public is hereby required to discountenance any insinuation and proclamations or information, contrary to this directive of Senate.

“For the avoidance of doubt, all students in the hostels are directed to come into the halls of residence on Sunday, 28th January, 2019. Lectures will commence on Monday, 28th January, 2019.

“Lecturers will start lecturing immediately and other academic activities will commence. Parents and guardians are hereby required to discountenance any insinuation and proclamations or information, contrary to this directive of Senate”, the statement read.

In separate interview, the spokesperson explained that the management of AAU, had never been averse to the struggle by ASUU to achieve improved funding of universities in Nigeria, but said the university management was duty bound to ensure the survival of the institution, especially as funding comes from the state government.
