WARRI – Despite the controversies that trailed the postponement of the 2019 General Elections, voters turnout was very impressive in most cities across Delta State. .

As early as 7.48am, the Electoral Officer Mrs. Grace Okah, (EO) at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Warri South Local Government Area, told journalists that , distribution of sensitive materials to all polling centres in the Local Council had already ended as the excerise commenced since yesterday.

She said, everything went on fine except little shortfall of materials they had yesterday. She however noted there that that had been sorted out with more materials brought in from INEC office in Asaba.

“The materials were suppose to go the Registration Area Centers (RAC) before midnight yesterday but the party agents refused because of the presence of sensitive materials. Even when the DPO intervened that there will be security men to escort them they still refused. However that issue was resolved early this morning at about 6am.

There were heavy presence of security operatives especially soldiers along major roads in Uvwie , Warri South, and Sapele Local Government Area, the restriction order on vehicular movements were strictly adhered to as only people on essential duties were allowed to pass after thorough screening , which the security operatives carried out in a very civil manner.

At Cavegina Primary school in Warri South local government area, one of the polling centers, there was also heavy presence of security operative and corps members but voting was yet to commence as at 8am.

At Ward 5 Unit 10, in Uvwie Local Government Area, the exercise did not commence until about midday due to a faulty Card Reader; which was later rectified . As at 4:30pm, voters were seen patiently waiting to cast their votes with heavy presence of police officers .

Voting materials arrived late at 11.37am at Ward 6 Unit 2 at Abigborodo in Warri North Local Government Area. Voters were seen discussing in groups while waiting for the .exercise to commence.

Card Readers were not working at some polling units in Ugbuwangue I Warri South Local Government Area of the state.
