IGUEBEN – Edo state, it was pains and sorrow for the family of Ekonorue of Idumotutu of Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State.
Eyewitness report has it that trouble started with the family of Ekonorue of house No.11 Idumotutu Quarters Igueben.
According to the report one Mr Job Ekonorue entered an agreement with some persons who financed his travelling to Europe.
The agreement was once Job got to Europe and started working, he will pay the agreed amount.
A spoke man from the family who simply identified himself as Chris Ekonorue told our Crime correspondent in Igueben that it’s is true that Job have paid so much already, he has been used, abused by using him to do things that is against his will to get the requested amount.
On the 18, October 2018 these set of people came to our house to placed a threat notice, I reported the matter to the police.
On the 12, February 2019 as about 6 : 30 am, I was in the house with my family, suddenly we started hearing war songs and a smell of smoke in the compound as at that point I didn’t immediately came out, until about some few minutes, when I came out, I saw our building on fire, when I asked my neighbor’s who was already outside as at the time they came, he said he recognised some of them, he told me it’s is the same people that came to placed a noticed in the house October 2018 are the same set of people who set the house ablaze.
According to the report, the fire trapped two of his children in the inferno they burnt beyong recognition.
A visit to the divisional police command in the area shows that although the matter has been reported to the command, but nothing much has been done.
