BENIN CITY-A 50-year-old farmer has been hacked to death by a vulcanizer who he accused of raping his daughter and demanded N3 million compensation from him.
The victim, Mathew Idahosa was attacked with a machete by one Atekha Iyare at Osa village farm near Abudu in Orhionwmon local government area of Edo State.
The commissioner of police, Edo State CP Hakeem Odumosu said the attacker after killing his victim made away with his unregistered Lifan motorcycle which was later recovered from him at Afuze town.
The CP also stated that the one cutlass used for the act by the suspect was recovered.
Atekha Iyare told our reporter that he ambushed his victim about 8a.m on his way from farm on January 23, 2019.
He explained that his action was in retaliation for the allegation of rape his victim’s daughter laid against and the N3 million compensation demanded by her father (the victim) when the accusation was raised, years ago.
The suspect further noted that though he did not pay the money but he decided to kill the man due to the embarrassment he suffered as a result.
On why he made away with his victim’s motorcycle, he however remained silent.
CP Hakeem said the suspect would be charged for murder and robbery.
