Edo State Police Command has paraded six suspects in connection with the attack and killings of the DPO and three officers at the Afuze Divisional Police Headquarters in Owan East local government area of the state on Tuesday, March 12, 2019.


    CP Dan Malam Mohammed in Edo State paraded the six suspects along with others today, Wednesday, April 24, 2019.


The suspects were Agunu Ernest, 24, Paul Richard, 24, Agbomikhe Augustine, 18, George Sebastien, 20, Sunday ThankGod, 21, and Omogbai Sule, 27 who admitted to had fired the shot that killed one pregnant woman Sergeant Justina Aghomon during the attack.


The police command gave names of others officers Killed in the operation as DPO, SP Kosemani Ojo, Insp. Sado Isaac and W/PC Gloria Davids.
The suspects were said to have “striped officers off their uniforms and shot them dead with their guns”.


One AK-47 rifle, one Berretta pistol and three GSM phones were said to have been carted away from the station by the hoodlums.


Narrating their involvement, Paul Richard, Sunday ThankGod and Ernest Agunu said they were in the cell at the station after being arrested for stealing a motorcycle when the gunmen struck and forcefully freed all the cell inmates.

Ernest Agunu was said to have made a call from the cell to his gang members who invaded the station to set them free.


Omogbai Sule said he fired the pregnant police sergeant on sighing her entering the station thinking she was armed and on a rescue operation.
The gang leader who he claimed killed the DPO is still at large.


Assuring Edo residents of adequate security of lives and property, the commissioner of police in the state CP Dan Malam Mohammed said under his watch no crime would go unpunished.


He advised criminals and their agents to repent or relocate from the state as the command and other sister security agencies in Edo had resolved to take the battle to their hideouts.


He appealed to residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing information that would assist in having a better secured Edo State.
