EKPOMA – The dean of the Faculty of Education, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma-Edo State, Prof. (Mrs) Eunice Omoregie has lauded Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki for his efforts aimed at equipping teachers in the state with technological know how to Boost digital instructions in public schools.
The university teacher made the commendation while speaking at the 5th Distinguished Guest Lecture of the Faculty of Education, AAU on the topic: “Smart Schools: New Frontiers for Education in the Digital Age”, delivered by Prof. Charles Omekwu, from the Department of Library and Information Science, University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
Prof. Omoregie praised the governor for organising various programmes for teachers of primary schools under the ‘Edo Best’scheme, which according to her, equipped the teachers technologically to be able to create smart classrooms.
“At this stage, on behalf of my colleagues in our great faculty, I must commend His Excellency, Executive Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki who has been organising various programmes for teachers of the primary schools under the ‘Edo Best ‘Scheme’.
“This is with the view of making teachers to be abreast with technology with the aim of creating smart classroom; and teachers are provided with digital tools to aid them in their teaching.
“Through this, teachers at this level learn new technologies which are translated to their pupils in the classrooms”, she said.
Omoregie equally commended the digitalization efforts of the vice chancellor of AAU, whom according to her has introduced Computer Based Examination (CBE), Electronic Voting for the Students’ Union Government, as well as Electronic Senate meetings.
She disclosed that the faculty would also be organising it’s annual national conference from June 17 – 20, 2019 on the theme: Reinventing Nigeria Education for Global Competiveness.
She revealed further that the faculty would also feature another lecture on “Dress Sense: How Sensible”, adding that the lectures were part of efforts by the faculty to contribute towards making AAU really great.
