BENIN CITY-Police in Edo said they had found and reunited with their families three of four children stolen by a gang which specialises in the sale of children.
The three children were sold at N.6m to different buyers in Lagos
Thirteen suspects were said to have been apprehended in connection with the illicit trade.
The Public Relations Officer for Edo Police Command DSP Chidi Nwabuzor disclosed this to journalists in Benin City.
He stated that March 26, and April 2, 2019 one Kenneth Ofoke and Mercy Nwogha of Okabere area of Benin City were arrested following a tip off.
DSP Nwabuzor added that their confessions led investigators to Port Harcourt in Rivers State were other suspects were apprehended.
“On April 2, 2019 the suspects confessed to have sold four children at the value of N600, 000.00.
“Investigation also took operatives to Lagos State where three (3) of the stolen babies were recovered. Investigation concluded, the suspects will soon appear in court”. He stated.
DSP Nwabuzor however gave the names of other suspects as Marcus Chioma, Victoria Nwoko, Helen Nze, Adaeze Nwankwo, Joy Obih (females) Nze Samuel, Aiyanwu Ihedinacho, Sunday Akazorche and Ifeoma Obiakor.
