Benin – Edo State House of Assembly on Tuesday constituted the house standing committees to oversee different ministries, department and parastatals in the state.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Frank Okiye who constituted the committee during plenary, said he would head the house standing committee on selection while, the deputy speaker, Hon. Yekini Idaiye would head tender board committee.

TheRules, Business and government house is to be headed by the house leader,Hon. Roland Asoro, member representing (APC Orhionmwon south). He is also to oversee house committee on health.

According to the speaker, the house committees on infrastructure and project monitoring would be chaired by deputy leader, Hon. Marcus Onobun (APC Esan West).

Appropriation and Economic planning committee would be headed by Hon. Ephraim Alubhosele member representing (APC Igueben) and the committee would oversee committee on wealth creation and empowerment.

Public petition will be chaired by the member representing Esan North East two, Hon.Emmanuel Okoduwa and the committee will also oversee committee on local government and chieftaincy affairs.

Also,the committee on public account headed by Hon.Emmanuel Agbaje ,member representing Akoko Edo 11, is to oversee the committee on finance while Hon. Nosayaba Okunbor(APC Orhionmwon East) education committee chairman, is expected to oversee the science and technology.

The committee for judiciary, human right that is expected to oversee the affiliated of Security committee is chaired by Hon.Henry Okuarobo,(APC, Ikpoba Okha constituency) while Environment and sustainability committee overseeing energy and water resources is headed by Hon.Sunday Ojiezele (APC, Esan South East)

Meanwhile, the house has adopted 55 sitting days for the first quarter, first session of the seventh assembly.
The motion to adopt the house business calendar was moved by the leader of the house, Hon.Roland Asoro and seconded by the deputy leader, Hon.Marcus Onobun, member representing (APC Esan West).

According to the calendar, the house sat for ten days in June, and would sit for twenty-three days in July and 22 days in August bringing the number of sitting days to 55.

Hon. Asoro said Monday to Wednesday would be for plenary while Thursdays and Fridays would be for committee work.
