The speaker of Edo House of Assembly,Rt.Hon. Francis Okiye on Thursday inaugurated House standing committees to oversee ministries, parastatals and agencies in the state.
Rt.Hon. said the objective of the Committees was to oversee various ministries and agencies to ensure maximum efficiency.
He mandated the heads of ministries to initiate ideas and policies that will help the executive and other arms of govt to function optimally.
The committees inaugurated by the speaker are infrastructure and project ,and Environment.
The speaker also used the opportunity to warn heads of ministries to always honour the House summons rather than sending their subordinates.
Meanwhile, members of Isua -Arhue community Uromi in Esan North East local government led by Mr clement Okosun visited the speaker to felicitate with him on his election as the speaker.
Okiye while expressing his gratitude to the group, said he was being protected by law and the people of the state regardless of situation in the assembly.
According to him, my emergence as the speaker is the creation of God, nobody can remove me except my colleagues.
