BENIN CITY – Suspected cult clash has left one dead and another hospitalised at Uhie Community in Ikpoba-Okha local government area of Edo State.

The deceased, a middle-aged man cladded in black shirt and trousers was hacked to death and his corpse dumped in a bush along Old Road, Uhie Community, last Sunday.

Operatives of New Etete Police Division led by the DPO SP Solomon Adeleye evacuated the yet-to-be identified body to Stella Obasanjo Hospital, Benin City, yesterday.

Contacted, the Enogie of Uhie Community was said to be in a family meeting when a call was made to his phone number.

However, the Okaighele of Uhie Community Mr. Osas Imafidon said he was at a ceremony last Sunday when he was informed that some youths had engaged themselves in bloody fight.

He explained that on getting to the village he was further told that the crisis was between Vickins and Neo-black Movement of Africa aka Black Axe.

The Public Relations Officer for Edo Police Command DSP Chidi Nwabuzor said that one Imafidon reported to the police at New Etete Police Division.

He said the corpse had been evaluated as investigation was ongoing.

DSP Nwabuzor however advised the youths to steer clear of crime especially cultism which is a lose lose situation for them.
