BENIN CITY – Minister designate from Edo state and former commissioner in the Comrade Adams Oshiomhole’s administration, Prince Clem Agba has described his appointment as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by President Muhammadu Buhari as a call to service.
Clem Agba who rose through the ranks to become the Transport and Travel Manager of one of Nigeria’s foremost oil companies and global giants, Chevron Nigeria Limited, relished the opportunity to serve with a visionary and pragmatic leader like President Buhari and pledged to do his best.
In an interview with news men he disclosed that “An appointment to serve with a visionary and pragmatic leader as President Buhari is a call to contribute my quota to the socio-economic development of Nigeria,” he said.
“In constructing the Nigeria of our dream, we desperately needed a Buhari to help us redirect our national ethos. Our country was drifting dangerously and we were close to the precipice. The economy was also in a parlous state.
The security situation in the country was very poor and there was a general state of hopelessness and disillusionment.
“President Buhari’s coming in 2015 helped to rekindle hope in our country and gave everyone a renewed feeling that Nigeria would be great again. The re-engineering in the first term which has cascaded into the next level consolidation in the second term will give our people the needed traction to be more positive and nationalistic going forward”.
When pressed on which sector he would be most effective in the Federal Executive Council, Prince Clem Agba pleaded for patience and reiterated that the appointer, President Muhammadu Buhari, who nominated him has a good grasp of his expertise and where his service would most profit the nation.
“A call to service is the greatest honor that can be bestowed upon any citizen,” he explained.
“In whatever position, I am prepared to do my best having been prepared by destiny and sharpened by my experience to deliver on the President’s mandate. I am fully convinced that at the end of the President’s second term in office in 2023, he would be remembered as the man who laid the foundation and built the strong institutions for a new Nigeria where justice, fairness, and equity reigned supreme and real development commenced”
Prince Clem Agba’s nomination and confirmation by the Senate has been hailed in Edo state and across the nation as a reward for hard work and competence given his excellent track record as a public servant in Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s administration, and positive exploits with Chevron Nigeria Limited.
