BENIN CITY – Two persons, Glory John and John Omoruyi have been arraigned before an Ogbeson Magistrate Court in the Oregbeni Magisterial District in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State for alleged assault of a staff of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS).

Glory John female, 30 years was arraigned on a four count charge of conspiracy to commit misdemeanor, unlawful damage and unlawful assault offences punishable under Sections 517A, 355, 451 and 351 of the Criminal Code Cap 48 Vol. II Laws of the Defunct Bendel State of Nigeria as applicable in Edo State while John Omoruyi, male, 42 years was arraigned for failure to produce a crime suspect involved in the alleged assault.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the offences upon which they were charged.

Counsel to the defense, N. Edemwande Esq, pleaded that the accused persons be granted bail.

Having listened to the appeal of the Defense Counsel and the objection to bail raised by the prosecutor Kehinde Iyawe, the Court granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N100, 000 each, with a surety each in like sum, who shall be resident within the jurisdiction of Court.

The Court however remanded Gloria John in prison custody for not been able to perfect her bail conditions.
The case was consequently adjourned to August 27, 2019 for definite hearing.
