OBAGIE N’EVBUOSA-The Enogie (traditional head) of Obagie N’Evbuosa in Ikpoba-Okha local government area of Edo State HRH Stephen Usiemwanta Imadonmwanyi and elders of the community have pacified aggrieved youths of the town to remain calm as their grievances would be addressed.
This was parts of resolutions reached at a well-attended meeting conveyed by the Enogie at his palace in Obagie N’Evbuosa Community, yesterday.
The meeting it was gathered, followed reported protest, last weekend, by some youths of the community against their leader (Okaighele) one Mr Festus Edegbe, after they accused him of hiring hoodlums to foment trouble in the peaceful Community.
Speaking in Edo language shortly after the meeting, HRH Stephen Usiemwanta Imadonmwanyi said he was surprised at to watch on television youths of his community protesting against the Okaighele.
He explained that to swiftly resolve issues raised by the youths, he summoned the meeting where they had all voiced their grievances as he and the elders had assured them of the usual amicable settlement.
The Enogie however promised to ensure that the Okaighele Mr Festus Edegbe performs his duties in accordance with directives of the Benin palace.
Among elders at the gathering Hon. Friday Ogierhiakhi, Secretary to the community, and Mr Mathew Erhunmwunse said the youths had genuine grievances as it was unacceptable for non-indegenes to dominate their village.
Mr Aigbedo Emmanuel and Mr Uyi Igiebor who spoke for the youths said the protest became inevitable since the Okaighele refused to listen to them.
They all were thankful to the Enogie for conveying the meeting which they admitted had pacified them.
The Okaighele Mr Festus Edegbe denied the allegation saying that the protest was orchestrated by some youths eyeing his seat in the community.
According to him, among the strategies the said youths had adopted to unseat him was to cause trouble in his name in order to blackmail him before the Enogie and elders of Obagie N’Evbuosa.
While pledging his continued loyalty to his Enogie, elders, women and youths of the locality, Mr Festus Edegbe affirmed that he would work with security agencies to fish out criminal elements amongst law-abiding residents of Obagie N’Evbuosa town.
