BENIN CITY- Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu Sunday congratulated children of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Airport Road, Benin City as they marked the 2019 Children’s “Harvest of total restoration.”
Shaibu noted that it was instructive to celebrate children while leading them on the path of the Lord for they are gifts from God.
The joy of parenthood, he said is complete when you see your children attaining greater heights than you in life.
Parish Priest, St. Paul Catholic Church, Very Rev. Fr. Edwin Omorogbe in his homily advocated gender equality and true repentance while observing that there was no biblical account of a prodigal daughter.
He stated that the gospel of the prodigal son on this auspicious day was instructive at portraying the unending love of God at accepting back repentant sinners.
Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Damian Lawani stated that children have a place in church as they have the ability to learn values and morals.
He noted that,”The Bible has told us to bring up children in the way of the Lord so that when they grow, they will not depart from it.
“That is why we are following them up, advising them on methods of praising God in their lives.”
Co-chairman of the children’s harvest, Master Solomon Lawani stated that he was impressed with the constitution of members of the youth harvest and their interest towards the success of the harvest. He urged children to always honour their parents.
In a related development, wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Maryann Shaibu who celebrated her birthday in church stated “Today is a special day for me. It’s not just my birthday but the feast of our Lady of Sorrows. She is my mentor and my all. ”
Talking on the harvest, she said,”I celebrate the children here as my own children. I wish them well. I pray today would be a surprise gift for those women seeking the fruit of the womb. I pray God will surprise them with the gift of a child so that they partake of the joys of parenthood.”
