BENIN CITY – Benin Electricity Distribution Commission ( BEDC) says about 200,200 meters are now available for its Customers to purchase in the next two years in Asaba, Delta State

The Excutive Director, Commercial, Mr. Abu Ejoor who made this known said on Thursday in Asaba at the Media Lounch of the State Meters Asset Provider ( MAP) scheme, that the rolled out meters are expected to have a monthly Cumulative average of about 10,000 units.

Ejoor informed that ” in Delta State, the roll out of meters will take off through Inlaks Power Solution limited, and is location by location; route by route; Street by Street”.

To access the meters, he said, Customers are required to complete data and the survey form to enable MAP personnel to access their premises in readiness for the metering”.

While advising customers not to pay through cash to either BEDC staff or MAP officers, Mr. Ejoor said Customers are to purchase the meters “only into Bank Account designed by the MAP”, with the single face and 3 faces valued at #36,991 and #67,826 respectively.

According to the Excutive Director, ” after payment confirmation, customer would be metered within 10 days, metering is to take off from Asaba, the state capital and thereafter to all locations across the state.
He said for now an average of 84,516 mwh is delivered to the state monthly, while there was average daily supply of electricity of 10- 12 hours on 33kv feeders and 6-10 hours on 11kv feeders before the TCN problems in Warri and Asaba.

Besides, Mr. Abu Ejoor disclosed that BEDC is loosing about 36 percent of electricity via commercial theft and illegal consumption as well as non payment of Bills.
