BENIN CITY – The Commissioner of Police deployed in Edo State CP Lawan Jimeta Tanko, yesterday assumed duty with an assurance to raise security bar in the state.

CP Lawan commended his predecessor for the security achievements recorded in Edo thus far, pledging that the state would experience more under his watch.

He solicited for the support and cooperation of the media, operatives of the police command and members of the public towards achieving improved security in the Edo.

“I will be humane, fair and firm in the discharge of my duties in Edo State”. CP Lawan Jimeta Tanko stated.

The new police boss stated this shortly after he took over from his predecessor at the police command headquarters in Benin City.

CP Lawan Jimeta Tanko who arrived the state police command headquarters in Benin City about 4:17pm, inspected a welcome parade mounted at quarter guard, and was thereafter led into his office where he was received by his predecessor DanMallam Mohammad, now an Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) of Police in charge of Special Protection Unit (SPU), Force headquarters, Abuja.

Earlier in a brief handover, his predecessor informed CP Lawan Jimeta that the state police command has 10 area commands and 45 police divisions.

AIG DanMallam appealed to officers and men of the command as well as members of the public to also extend the same support he enjoyed to CP Lawan Jimeta.

He however advised his successor to partner with relevant stakeholders as he stands to achieve a lot in Edo State.
