SABONGIDDA-ORA – As Christians all over the globe celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Bishop of Sabongidda-Ora Diocese, Anglican Communion, The Rt. Rev’d Augustine Ohilebo has cautioned Christians to shun tendencies do not glorify the name of Lord Jesus Christ in the cause of their celebrations.

The religious leader who gave the admonition in his Christmas message in Sabogida-Ora, Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State, said Anglicans and Christians alike must not forget the essence Christmas.

He enjoined them to use the season to show love to humanity by remembering the poor among them, as God himself exhibited generosity by giving His only begotten son – Jesus Christ to save mankind.

“I want to urge Anglicans and Christians all over the world not to celebrate Christmas and forget the reason for Christmas. The reason for Christmas is Jesus Christ Himself whom were are commemorating His birth. If that is the reason, we need to apply our hearts to it”, he advised.

Bishop Ohilebo cautioned Christians to avoid satanic pitfalls, by shunning drunkiness, immorality and the likes, adding that such behaviours negated the the doctrine of Christianity, hence defeats the very essence of Christmas.

He urged them to avoid unnecessary desperation, and called on them to uphold the virtue of contentment by celebrating within their means.

He use the opportunity to charge political leaders at all levels in the country to work towards fulfilling their electoral promises to alleviate the sufferings of the people.

He however commend the governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki for his laudable achievements and urged him to remain focused, just as he called on all political party stakeholders to support his vision to take state to the sought after eldorado.
