BAMA (MAIDUGURI)- It was sorrowful scene at the Heavenly Palace Assembly Church in Bama Town, Maiduguri, the Borno State Capital, as suspected members of the dreaded Boko Haram Sect dastardly murdered Mr.and Mrs. Uhunamure Ogbemudia, parents of the Spiritual Head of the Church in cold blood.
The feared Boko Haram insurgents were said to have after killing the couple, unleashed terror on members of the Church, set the church ablaze before whisking Pastor Bright Nosa Ogbemudia away to unknown destination.
It was learnt that pastor Bright who was said to have been living in Maiduguri with his parents, wife and children is the leader of the christian association in Bama.
The sad incident which occurred February 2, 2020 according to multiple sources could not be unconnected to the renew onslaught on Christians by the islamic terrorist group (Boko Haram) in the state.
Speaking to newsmen on the church invasion, an eye witness who pleaded anonymity, said the insurgents stormed the church in war-like-manner when their service was going on, adding that 79-year-old Pa. Uhunamure Ogbemudia and the 68-year-old Madam Rose Ogbemudia, parents of Pastor Bright were brutally murdered by the insurgents.
He informed that the whereabouts and safety of kidnapped Pastor Bright’s Wife and three children remain unknown just as he disclosed that the church has not heard anything from the terrorists about Bright.
He appealed to national and international communities to come to their aids and rescue Pastor Bright from the hands of the terrorists, lamenting that the church members have fled Bama to different locations for safety.
Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Danjuma Gori while confirming the report said no arrest has been made in connection with incident.
SP Danjuma revealed that the corpse of Mr.and Mrs. Ogbemudia, natives of Benin City in Edo State, have been deposited at a morgue in Maiduguri, while the police has no trace of Pastor Bright Nosa Ogbemudia’s whereabouts.
