In a bold and commendable move to supporting Nigeria’s ongoing response to the mental health implications of the COVID-19 crisis, a renowned Mental Health Advocate and Author, Osaye Igbinigie, provided copies of her book, Mentally Safe, to Technical Colleges in Edo State.

Recognizing the urgent need to support students’ psychological well-being in the aftermath of the pandemic, Osaye’s intervention was lauded as a critical step in bridging Mental Health Awareness and education in underserved institutions.

According to experts, the Book, Mentally Safe, offers practical tools for managing anxiety, fostering emotional resilience, and promoting mental wellness—a timely resource for young people navigating post-pandemic challenges.

Hon. Monday Igbinigie, the First Member of the Edo State Board for Technical and Vocational Education, commended Osaye’s efforts in writing the book.

He described the Author’s initiative as “an important step in managing the mental health crisis, occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Recall that Edo State is home to five Government-owned Technical Colleges: Benin Technical College, Usugbenu Technical College, Ehor Technical College, Igarra Technical College, and Afuze Technical College.

So far, Mentally Safe has been successfully distributed to three of the five institutions—Benin, Irrua, and Usugbenu.

During a Zoom call with Mr. Imafidon, Principal of Benin Technical College, Osaye, expressed commitment to expanding the reach of the initiative.

She pledged to ensure that all five Technical Colleges in Edo State—and eventually more Secondary schools within the state—receive copies of the book.

This initiative continues Osaye Igbinigie’s trailblazing work in Mental Health Advocacy, combining education, compassion, and strategic outreach to foster a mentally resilient next generation.
