The September 19th 2020 Edo State gubernatorial election in Ward 10 in Ovia South-West local government area has left two suspected thugs dead while the leader,one Otabor Agbonmwanre who is on the run has been declared wanted by the Nigerian Police .
Meanwhile,pockets of violence in several parts of the 18 locals government had been reported leading to disruption of election activities in some units and wards in the State.
According to information made available to journalists,two thugs led by one Otabor Agbonmwanre were hired by the opposition party APC to disrupt elections in the stronghold of the PDP in ward 10 in Egor but were resisted by thugs of the PDP who were on ground as attempts to destroy ballot-papers and disrupt voting were strongly opposed leading to thugs from the two parties engaging in exchange of gunfire.
Two of the thugs,namely Otasowie Uyi and Osasogie Ero were however not spared as PDP thugs allegedly gunned down two of them while their leader Otabor Agbonmwanre escaped as voters and INEC officials all scampered for safety during the fierce gun battle.
Meanwhile,the residents of ward 10 in the community reacted to the unfortunate use of thugs by politicians which often times leads to avoidable deaths noting that one Otabor Agbonmwanre should be held responsible for the recent violence in the community during which two lives were lost while many others sustained injuries.
The Nigerian Police in a statement made available to journalists in Benin City said its men are on the trail of a suspect named as . Otabor Agbonmwanre who resides at 21 A.N Oboh Street off Sawmill Road Urora noting that he was notorious for bringing in thugs to rig election for politicians in the State.
The statement advised members of the public with useful information that could lead to his arrest to come forward adding that it was working in synergy with other security agencies and local vigilantes to arrest the fleeing Otabor Agbonmwanre.
Meanwhile, the relatives of the murdered thugs have also vowed to make life miserable for the fleeing Otabor Agbonmwanre, leader of the thugs noting that he must pay with his life whenever and wherever he was seen around.
Tony Uyi,elder brother of the murdered Otasowie Uyi warned that whenever and wherever he sees the fleeing Otabor Agbonmwanre,he would kill him to avenge his younger brother”s death.
