LAGOS – The clampdown on activists and protesters that took part in the EndSARS protest, that resulted in the killings of innocent protesters at Lekki tollgate in Lagos, has continued unabated.
The Lagos State Police Command have on November 1,2020 raided house No.16 Shagamu Road, Ikorodu, Lagos, the meeting place of a group known as Ogene Ndi Igbo,a socio – political group led by one Mr Otiti. The group took part in the EndSARS protest at the Lekki tollgate.
It was gathered that the leader of Ogene Ndi Igbo, Mr Otiti, the deputy leader, Nicholas Aigbe aka Obaga and other members were actively involved in the Lekki tollgate protest and they witness the shooting and killing that occurred that night.
It was further gathered that a special team of crack Police detectives and a team of Rapid Response Squad(RRS) operatives, led by an Assistant Commissioner of Police(ACP) raided the house.
About five members of the group were arrested, while others including, Mr Otiti and his deputy, Nicholas Aigbe, luckily escaped
A member of Ogene Ndi Igbo group, told The NIGERIAN OBSERVER that the group was part of the protest in different parts of Lagos State from October 15 to 20,2020 before they moved to Lekki tollgate enmasse. The member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, for fear of been arrested and killed by security operatives, said that some of the group members saw soldiers shooting at the protesters, when the light and the CCTV cameras were turned off in Lekk tollgate. They have to run for their lives as the soldiers were shooting indiscriminately.
The whereabouts of Mr Otiti, Nicholas Aigbe and other members of the group is unknown as they have fled for their lives.
Over twelve persons were reported killed when soldiers fired live bullets at protesters in Lekki tollgate. Several people that participated in the protest, including celebrities have been arrested and detained
