IGUEBEN – Unknown gunmen have attacked the Igueben Police Divisional Headquarters in Igueben, Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State, killing two policemen and one civilian.
The attack which occurred at about 8pm on Monday (November 9, 2020) also left another policeman and one other civilian seriously injured.
Police source said the attackers attacked the police station with sophisticated weapons, shooting sporadically and throwing explosive devices into station.
At the time the gunmen completed their mission, two policemen and one civilian were lying dead, while one policeman and a civilian were seriously injured.
The chairman, Igueben local government, Hon. Josie Ogedegbe who expressed shock at the incident, said the reason for the attack remained a mystery.
“The reason for the attack remains a mystery to everyone. It happened at night, so it can not be traced to EndSARS activities”, he said.
The bodies of the slain policemen have been deposited in a morgue while the injured ones were taken to the hospital for treatment
