Obayantor – The least may have not been heard of the leadership tussle that has engulfed Obayantor 1 community in lkpoba – Okha Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria following claim by two rival leaders to the youth presidency position of the locality.
There are strong indication that no fewer than eight persons have so far feared dead in the fracas that ensued in January 2021, while a close aide and uncle of the incumbent president by name Osaro lgbinosa flee to unknown destination for fear of been killed after his residence was set on fire.
Trouble however started when the tenure of the former president Mr. Osato Oduwa (A.k.a Osato) elapsed as the youth president of the community and Mr Endurance Omoregie (A.k.a Ajala) was overwhelmingly chosen by majority of the elders of the community to take over from the former president.
Not satisfied by the elders of the community’s choice of Ajala as the new youth president, Osato decided to resolve to self help by engaging the use of alleged armed thugs to terrorized the community thereby leading to the death of eight persons while some of the aide loyal to Ajala was declared persona – non – Granta within the precients of the community.
Osato according to source closed to the area has been torn on the flesh of the community ever since he was removed and rejected as youth president by elders of the community following his past antecedent
Mr Osaro lgbinosa who is now on the run for fear of being killed was once kidnapped on his way to the community by Osato and his gang but was luck to be rescued through the quick intervention of anti – kidnapping squad of the state security agencies.
It is equally on record that several assassination attempts have been made on Osaro lgbinosa’s life before now having viewed him as a personal driver and uncle to Ajala who is currently in police custody on the instruction of some elders like Pa Aghimien, Pa Edosomwan, Pa lgbinovia and a host of others who surprisedly turned against Ajala.
Osato whom seems to be influecial because one of his person is a big time politician in the present administration of the state has taken that advantage to rain terror on the community.
“As the fight between the two rival group rages, the fate of Mr Osaro lgbinoba who is viewed as an alleged prime suspect in the imbroglio hangs in the balance as he is a target for assassination, hence the reason while he flee to unknown destination” said source closed to the community.
The community battle which started regarding the next president of the area has resulted in the killing of some innocents including one Osas.
