BENIN CITY – Wife of Edo State Governor Her Excellency Betsy Obaseki, has commanded Edo Queens FC players for their brilliant performance against the Confluence Queens FC of Kogi which earned them three maximum points in Week 7 of the NWFL premiership played on Wednesday evening in Benin.

Temitope Owoeye’s 89th minute strike broke the deadlock and sunk the Confluence Queens to the admiration of the Edo first lady and the deputy Governor of Edo state Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin-City.

The first Lady who accompanied the Deputy Governor to visit the players in their camp before the game, said she was elated to have serious minded girls in Edo Queens, adding that the State government is totally committed to ensuring that Edo Queens remain one of the best in the country.

“I feel much better and happy seeing our beautiful girls in this conducive environment. As i said during the official unveiling and rebranding of Edo Queens FC, that we all are very committed to ensuring that our sports men and women in the state shall be rated among the best in the country.

So, I therefore urge you to go all out for victories in all your subsequent games,home or away.”

“I’m impressed greatly with your display of football artistry this evening, not minding that we missed a lot of scoring chances in the match, I’m indeed happy. You have made us happy this evening, so i want you to continue with this same winning spirit.

I understand you have an away match against Delta Queens next week in Delta State, l want you to go there and win again for us.

From what I have seen here this evening, there is no team Edo Queens cannot beat. So keep doing your best, keep the flag flying, we are solidly behind you girls.” She enthused.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor of the State His Excellency Rt.Hon.Comrade Philip Shaibu, was also appreciative of the girls performance.

He motivated the girls by promising that each goal scored by the Queens whether home or away will be rewarded with one million Naira.

Temitope Owoeye added her name to the goal scoring chart of the NWFL by netting in her first goal of the season.
Her last minute efforts seperated the two sides giving Edo Queens the maximum three points.

Edo Queens have scored a total of nine goals in seven outings, winning four games, drawing two and lost one to have fourteen points.
