Amid the chaos that ensued, the activist, Ivie was said to have sustained serious injuries while bullet fired by the assailants as they left the premises hit her little daughter, Talia.

Sources disclosed further that the fatally wounded Talia was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital which allegedly denied her treatment due to absence of police report.

While the activist stayed with her injured daughter at the hospital unattended, her husband Henry was said to have hurried to obtain police report as a doctor on close examination pronounced her dead.

Bloodstains said to be that of the victim were still visible at the main entrance to the bereaved couple’s rented apartment when our reporter visited.

The bereaved mother of slain baby Talia, Ivie was said to be taking refuge in an undisclosed location.

“They asked me to show them Ivie’s residence which I did ignorantly.

“The incident has created fear among residents of Lugbe Community, the police cannot be trusted to do the needful in this trying moment”, the resident said.

Amos Emeka who occupies another apartment in the premises stated that he raised the alarm when he sighted armed men lurking around his vicinity.

“I started shouting for help as they tried fruitlessly to gain access to my neighbour’s apartment.

“Everyone became alert and that repelled the assailants who started shooting sporadically.

“Though I cannot confirm the identity of the gunmen but I heard from the grapevine that the activist and her family are hiding here after they fled Kaduna due to similar attacks said to have been executed by Islamic set, Izala, and others”, Emeka stated.

The Public Relations Officer, FCT police command ASP Yusuf Mariam condemned the barbaric killing of one baby Talia when assailants attacked her parents’ residence at Lugbe neighbourhood.

She said operatives of the Command were on the trail of the perpetrators.

“No group or individual has publicly claimed responsibility for the attack. I stand to be proven incorrect. FCT command was not formally informed of her presence in Lugbe until the unfortunate attack.

“We have received several complaints from her on attempts to eliminate her because of her advocacy, as a command, it is our responsibility to protect lives and property, that we are currently doing to the best of our ability”, ASP Yusuf noted.
