OKADA(OVIA NORTHEAST) – Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS), yesterday appreciated Igbinedion University, Okada (IUO) for being tax compliant.

Leading the delegation of EIRS on the “Operation know your tax payers,” to the university and its teaching hospital, a move in which government appreciates establishments which pay tax but read the riot act to defaulters, Executive Director, Income Tax, Prince Felix Isuku, stated, Haven looked into records, the establishment has been found to be tax compliant.”
He noted that the idea of the visitation was to engender mutual relations with establishments, get updated information on tax payers for ease of interaction and for both establishments to operate on same page.
Responding to the raised tax issues on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, IUO, Professor Lawrence Ikechukwu Ezemonye, Dr. Nosa Edogiawerie (Bursar) appreciated the delegation and encouraged its continuance for ease of tax administration in the state.
Dr. Edogiawerie while praising the revenue body for it’s friendly face during the interaction at the auspicious visit stated that it provided, “Opportunity to interact with Edo State Internal Revenue Service and clear grey areas which is a welcome development.”
Director of Legal Services, Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital, Okada, Omoregie Osamuyimen Esq, stated that the hospital is tax compliant. He affirmed that non payment of tax would dent the image of the hospital and possibly attract a riot act from government. He nonetheless assured of the continued payment of tax by staff.
An expatriate and Director of Administration, Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital, Michael Strauss, stated that taxes must be deducted to be responsible employees to government which depends on revenue to succeed. He stated that if taxes are not paid to government one could get punished (nailed) as applicable in advanced countries hence appreciated government for it’s resilience at tax collection.
