Over the years Nigeria has been ravaged with insecurity raging from militancy in the Niger Delta region, terrorism in the North East, banditry in the North West, kidnapping across the country, herders/farmers crisis and more recently the activities of Unknown gunmen in the South East and few areas in the South South.
The manner of insecurity that has enveloped the nation in the last decade has seen thousands of deaths of Nigerians and many persons have been rendered homeless, with many leaving in fear of attacks on a daily basis.
Mr Nicholas Enobakhare Otas, a businessman who deals on fish feed and reside at No. 37 Odia street of Amagba, Benin city, Edo State, Nigeria, has narrated how he survived in the hands of kidnappers popularly known as “UNKNOWN GUN MEN”.
Mr Nicholas stated that the unfortunate incident happened on Thursday April 8th, 2021, at about 7am when he went about his business activities of buying fish feed, and that on his way from Edo State where he reside to Abia State located in the Eastern part of Nigeria, their bus where stopped at Alifikede between Edo and Delta State by men dress in military uniforms with guns, unknown to him where kidnappers regarded as Unknown gunmen that operates in eastern part of Nigeria.
Nicholas went further to narrate how he was taking into the bush alongside other kidnapped victims, and that he was beating mercilessly, shot on his left knee and stabbed on both legs. He said that after enough inhumane treatment that had melted on him, his life was spared and was shown his way out of the forest where he met a farmer and his wife, who helped him back to town before calling on a friend to take him home.
He said that the Police have been informed of his ordeal and the police are still carrying out their investigations till date and so far he has not heard of the conclusion of the investigation by the police.
Mr Nicholas Enobakhare Otas, is one of the lucky Nigerians who was able to survive in the hands of his abductors following the high level of insecurity that have bedeviled the nation Nigeria, and as such not everyone is lucky like Mr Nicholas to be alive to tell their story.
This life threatening event that Mr Nicholas Enobakhare Otas has been through in the hands of his abductors has traumatized him and even to this extend the abductors still calling him to cooperate and become one of them, to assist them how on the will abduct other people close to him.
