UGHELLI – Following the state of insecurity across the country, a group, Youths for Presidency Movement has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to update Nigerians weekly on the security situation.
The group which made the call in a statement dated May 11th, 2021 and signed by it convener, Umudjere Africaman, and a member of it Board of Trustees, Hauwa Isyaku maintained that the “safety or security” of citizens is no guarantee as it stands anywhere in Nigeria.
According to the statement made available to The Nigerian Observer, “the Northern Region down to the Southern Region, bypass to the Western Region sliding to the Eastern Region; all experiencing one form of insecurity or the other. Herdsmen attacks, Banditry attacks, armed robbery, cult clashes, kidnapping and a host of other criminal activities ravaging the country are signs of a failing government; the recent attack in Kaduna, Kastina, Niger, FCT, Abuja, Imo, Abia, Rivers, Benue and other affected states coupled with the attack at the Presidential Villa (Aso Rock) has made it more worrisome, if the Presidential villa is not safe who can attest to the safety or security of oneself in the country.
“President Buhari should grant a weekly-summary report of the state of the nation till this state of insecurity is over.”
On measures to check the current situation, the group called on the presidency, National Assembly and state assemblies to support and move for state police across the 36 states.

Meanwhile, President Buhari on Tuesday chaired a security meeting at the State House, Abuja to review the current security situation in the country and proffer solutions.
The meeting is a follow up on previous meetings on Friday, April 30th and Monday, 4th of May.
