ONITSHA (ANAMBRA)- No fewer than six (6) persons suspected to be members of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), have been reportedly killed by alleged armed policemen during the May 30, 2015 bloody protest by IPOB in the commercial town of Onitsha, Anambra State.

The violent protest it was learnt by our crime correspondent spanked off on May 29, 2015 following the alleged killing of a top member and recruiter of IPOB, one Ifeanyi Azubike, a native of Onitsha South East Local Government Area of in the state and former residence of Benin City, the Edo State Capital.

It was gathered further that the Late Azubike while alive resided with his family in Benin prior to the death of his mother, Madam Patricia Mgba and this incident it was learnt led to the relocation of Azubike, his step-father and two brothers to Onitsha, their home town for possibly livelihood.

Scooped further, angered by the alleged extral judicial killing of Ifeanyi Azubike by the police, one Mgba Friday, step-brother to the deceased Ifeanyi Azubike was recruited into the IPOB as a way of compensating the Azubike’s family.

It was later confirmed by the Anambra State Police Command upon enquiry by our correspondent that no fewer than 29 persons suspected to be members of the IPOB have been arrested by the police in connection with the ugly incident.

Just as the NIGERIAN OBSERVER was reliably informer that the police have carried out raid on the country home of the now at large Mgba Friday and other IPOB members in a bid to stern the protest of IPOB members in Onitsha, a one time ever-busy commercial hub of ANAMBRA now a ghost town as millions of residents have fled the area to different destinations for safety.

Contacted for comment, the Anambra State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Uzoramaka Stanley, who confirmed the report, said that the command have declared Mgba Friday, allegedly said to be responsible for the deadly May 30, 2015 and others wanted.

He, however, appealed to members of the Nigerian public and others who may know the whereabouts of the now at large Mgba Friday to approach any security formation within their comfort and report same, assuring that such information would be treated in also confidentiality its deserved.

Meanwhile, the least is yet to be heard as at the time of this report, just as the whereabouts of Mgba Friday could not be ascertained.
