BENIN CITY – The Coordinator, Edo Queens FC and Bendel Insurance Football club of Benin, office of the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Mrs. Sabina Chikere, has congratulated Bayelsa Queens FC and Bayelsa United FC both of Yenagoa for winning the prestigious 2021 Aiteo Cup just as she commended Edo state Government over the successful hosting of the Nigeria’s Football family in Benin on Sunday.
The sports administrator noted that it is the interest
the Edo state Governor Mr Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy Rt Hon comrade Philip Shaibu in sports development and overall commitment evident in the remodelled Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium and upgrade of other sporting facilities across the state that has so far been attracting National sporting events to Edo land.
Mrs Chikere was speaking with the Observersports at the end of the historic Aiteo Cup finals at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City when she gave the commendation and expressed gratitude to God for the hitch free games which coincided with the Nigeria Football Federation’s Extraordinary General Assembly which also held in Benin.
“We thank God Almighty for the grace and Edo State government for the privilege given us to participate in hosting a competition of this magnitude which brought the nation’s football administrators and players together in Edo land. It was an historic moment for us in Edo State, and we are very happy with the success recorded. This is a clear statement that Edo will continue to play its leading role in sports development in Nigeria “. She stressed.
I want to congratulate our brothers and sisters from Bayelsa for their historic victories of the 2021 Aiteo Cup competition. I commend both teams for their fighting spirit and doggedness,especially the boys’ determination.
Let me also congratulate the Aiteo Cup finalists FC Robo of Lagos and Nasarawa United FC for their efforts and sportsmanship. We are all winners.” Mrs Chikere enthused.
