BENIN CITY – The Benin Monarch, His Royal Majesty Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II has concluded this year’s coronation anniversary and birthday celebration with a special thanksgiving at the Holy Aruosa Cathedral over the weekend.
It will however been that the coronation anniversary was cancelled by the Oba as a result of the death of a prominent Edo son, Cap Wells Okunbor as a make of honour but the spiritual aspect of the coronation anniversary was done indoors.
In a homily at the special thanksgiving, the Ohen-Osa of the Holy Aruosa Cathedral, Ohen-Osa Igbinoghodua Edebiri harped on the need for the people to imbibe the complete morality of contentment (Isoken) adding that being contented(with ones possession) would prevent one from falling into temptations as this is a rare virtue that attracts earthly and heavenly blessing from Almighty God.
He noted that some of the social vices plaguing the society today can be attributed to the deviation of the people from the moral values and also the lack of contentment which is largely responsible for land grabbing across the state.
Ohen -Osa then urged the worshipers and the people to be contented with what they have and always thank God for what they have been able to possess .
He then prayed for the continuous peace and development in Benin kingdom, Edo State and the country as a whole.
The highpoint of the service was the special thanksgiving by the great Oba of the great Benin kingdom, Oba Ewuare II on the success of the 5th coronation anniversary and birthday celebration, accompanied by the Royal families, Palace Chiefs and functionaries, Enigies Market Women and other well wishers.
