Abudu – The elders, youths and women of Abudu, administrative headquarters of Orhionmwon local government area on Friday expressed appreciation to Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki for the College of Education sited in the community.
The people, led by the Odionwere (eldest man in the community), Pa Mathew Ehioghae who could not hide their joy went round the multi-million naira institution to get first hand view of facilities at the campus.
They appealed to the governor to open the college for full operations, adding, it would further boost socio-economic development of the host and adjoining communities in the area.
“We the people of Abudu, our hearts is filled with joy from you (Gov Obaseki) have done with the siting of the college of education here; we can not thank you enough”, the Odionwere flanked by the people expressed in Benin dialect
Also, the youth leader (Okaeghele), Saturday Irabor maintained that the governor has done well with infrastructural development in the area.
The Okaeghele who joined others to offer prayers for the governor Obaseki-led administration, expressed delight over the facilities at the institution.
According to Irabor, “we have gone round the school and we saw the great work you (gov Obaseki) have done there; and we are happy. we are now begging you to please open the college for academic activities since it is ready for use”.
Recall Obaseki had last year revealed that the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) gave approval for the establishment of the College of Education, with three campuses, to cater for the three senatorial districts of the state.
“Each school is specializing in a specific aspect of teacher education. The one in Abudu will have a digital training centre to train primary school teachers; the school in Igueben will focus on secondary school and science teachers, while the one in Afuze will specialise in training teachers in Technical Education, Physical Education and Special Education”, Obaseki noted
