BENIN CITY – Edo Queens Football Club of Benin yesterday defeated the Confluence Queens of Lokoja by a lone goal in the semifinals stage of the Flying Officers Preseason Tournament and will engage FC Robo of Lagos in the last game of the tournament on Sunday.
The final match is scheduled for 3 PM on Sunday at the same FCT Sports Complex.
Emem Essien’s late strike earned the Benin girls the important victory to once again vie for honour in the tournament they won two years ago in Abuja.
Edo Queens on the road to the finals of the women football preseason tournament did not concede any goal and won all their games.
The Sunday battle for the prestigious gold cup promises to be explosive as Edo Queens’ opponents FC Robo who beat Osun Babes 2-0 in the first semifinals game to get finals ticket have also given a good account of themselves.
The two premier league clubs are not new to themselves as they met in the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament held in Benin recently.
