BENIN CITY – While different religious dogmas are divided on the morality of in vitro fertilization popularly known as IVF for couples battling infertility problem, the General Overseer of Christian Family Love Ministry, Benin City, Pastor Napoleon Ufumwen has urged members of his church to explore the possibility of IVF and surrogacy for treating infertility.
The pastor stated his position on Sunday during the dedication service of a baby whose parents; Mr. and Pastor (Mrs). Ohenzuwa battled infertility problem for decades and only had their first baby through IVF.
According to the Pastor “it is only ignorance that will make some people to see anything wrong with IVF and surrogacy. Technology has improved our ways of treating medical issues including infertility. It is only wise that we take advantage of technology instead of making unfounded claims about it. The first assignment God gave man is to multiply and fill the earth and that is what IVF and surrogacy are all about”.
The pastor lauded the couple for staying true to each despite all the challenges they went through “it must have been a long and tough journey for the parents. The story of the baby we are dedicating today is a story of perseverance and courage. The parents have paid the price”. The pastor remarked.
Speaking further, the pastor said “Some people speak against IVF and surrogacy out of ignorance “I tell people to ask questions. Nothing is wrong with IVF and surrogacy. It is not wise to suffer barrenness if you can afford IVF and surrogacy”
According to Mr. Ohenzuwa, him and his wife, Gladys had expected a baby for about two decades since they got married and were happy to finally have a baby they can call their own. “I look forward to raising my smart little man. We are now parents because God gave him to us and we will raise him to to be a blessing to the family and the world. Mr. Ohenzuwa said.
IVF is a medical process which involves fertilizing an egg in a laboratory setting, then transferring it into a woman’s womb for gestation while surrogacy is the process of a woman carrying a child in her uterus on behalf of another person or couple.
