Four suspected homosexuals have been arrested by the Aideyan division of the Nigerian Police, Benin City.

The DPO in -charge of the Division, Asp. Musa Ibrahim who made this disclosure yesterday while addressing journalists in the state capital, said the arrest was carried out by operatives of Division Anti-vice section acting on credible information.

He gave the names of the suspects as James, Osarumwense, Matthew Timothy and Imonikosaye.

He disclosed that the Four suspects were apprehended at their hideout around airport road Benin city.

He told journalists that the suspect have made confessional statement to have canal knowledge of each others on several occasions.

He further said that investigation conducted so far revealed that one of the suspect Matthew Timothy was first arrested on the same offense in 2014.

He emphasized that the principal suspect, Matthew Timothy confessed to being the leader of the gang who committed this same offense with One Emmanuel ofeimu, now at larged, in 2014. He was then arraigned in court and sentenced to prison.

The DPO who used the opportunity to reiterate that homosexuality is an offense against humanity and abominable act that should be condemned in all ramification. He advice parents and Guardians to always monitor their children.

It should been recalled that the former President Goodluck Jonathan signed into law that make it illegal for gay people to even hold a meeting in country. The same sex marriage prohibition act also criminalizes homosexuality clubs, association and organizations, it carried penalty up to 14 years jail term.
