UZAIRUE- – Edo State Ministry of Communication and Orientation will partner with Edo State University Uzairue in raising a new set of professionals that will drive the progress that Nigeria needs in the Broadcasting industry, just as the Ministry work towards having a new digital broadcasting sector.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Barr. Andrew Adaze Emwanta during a facility tour of the Edo state University Uzairue, Etsako West Local Government area of Edo State.
The Commissioner who commended the authorities of the University for building a world class university assured that Edo Broadcasting Service and the Ministry will partner with the faculty of Arts on how to achieve the vision of the broadcasting studio of the institution.
He disclosed that the Ministry of Communication and Orientation is working towards having a new digital broadcasting sector to be controlled by the state.
According to him, “Broadcasting has gone beyond analogue and the Ministry is working towards having a new digital broadcasting sector that we as a state can control. We have a federal system of government where everything is with the federal government. But by the time we come out with our master plan, Edo University will be one of our partners.”
The Commissioner who was conducted round the University by the Vice Chancellor, Engr. Prof Emmanuel Aluyor assured the University authorities that when the state government becomes the broad cast regulator the process of getting a license will be in quick succession and their dream of becoming a leader in the broadcasting industry will come true.
He said Edo State Government is proud of the achievements of the University which is not up to a decade, adding that the University is looking like what has been built over a century ago with many projects springing up which are mark of excellence.
Barr. Emwanta further praised the University for the Tenacity of purpose by trying to raise a new set of professionals that will drive the progress that Nigeria needs.
“As a lawyer, I feel very proud that you have beautiful plans for the law faculty. Not just the law faculty but for the college of medicine and others as well” he noted.
While informing the Vice Chancellor of the stakeholder’s engagement to be organized by the state government in October this year in the University, the Commissioner said the beauty of making Edo Great Again is that everybody, from the Executive, Legislative, Judiciary, all those in leadership positions irrespective of political parties are involve
The Vice Chancellor of Edo University, Uzairue, Engr. Prof Emmanuel Aluyor revealed that every effort are being made to put the University on the world map.
“The Nigeria University Commission, NUC ranking has placed Edo University 10th best in Nigeria, 2nd best in the state and the best in the South South region.
“It should be pointed out that the government has one hundred scholarships to give to indigent students. Let us ensure we have more than the 100 applications for the scholarship. There are also five scholarships for the masters’ programme, ” he added
